How long until I’m smiling with straight teeth?
Most cases run 6 to 18 months. Mild crowding at the front can be done in under six. You get a timeline with a number of trays on it after the first scan, not a vague estimate.
Be honest — do aligners hurt?
Not really, but the first two days on each new tray feel tight, like pressure rather than pain. That tightness is the tooth moving. If a tray is still uncomfortable after a week, something is wrong and we want to see you.
Can I start aligners here and finish them back home?
Yes, and several of our patients do. We scan and plan here, hand over the trays with the sequence, and check in remotely from photos you send. If you would rather have a dentist at home take over partway, we give them the records to do it.
Do I really have to wear them 22 hours a day?
Yes, and this is the part that decides whether it works. Aligners only move teeth while they are in your mouth. Take them out for meals and for coffee, and put them straight back. Patients who treat them as optional in the evenings are the ones whose treatment overruns.
